كيف تُحسب النقاط في 2048

Your score is determined entirely by which merges you make, which means it is almost completely predictable from your highest tile.

2048's scoring is simple and it has an unexpected consequence: your score is almost entirely determined by the tiles on your board, not by how you played.

The rule

Every merge adds the value of the resulting tile. Merging two 2s into a 4 adds 4 points. Merging two 512s into a 1024 adds 1024. Nothing else scores — not surviving, not moving, not the tiles that spawn.

Why that makes score predictable

To build a 2048 tile you must first build two 1024s, which each required two 512s, and so on all the way down. Every one of those merges scored, and the total is fixed by arithmetic.

A 2048 tile represents approximately 20,480 points of accumulated merges. The exact figure varies slightly because 4s sometimes spawn instead of 2s, skipping one merge, but the relationship is tight.

Highest tileApproximate score from that tile alone
256~2,000
512~4,600
1024~10,200
2048~22,500
4096~49,000
8192~106,000

Your actual score is the sum across all tiles on the board, so a board with a 2048 and a 1024 scores roughly the sum of both.

The practical implication

You cannot improve your score by playing more efficiently in the way you might in other games. The only way to score more is to build bigger tiles, which means the entire strategic question is about board management, not about point optimisation.

This is why the corner and snake strategies are the whole of 2048 strategy. There is no scoring subtlety to exploit.

The 4s that spawn cost you points

When a 4 spawns instead of a 2, you skip a merge that would have scored 4 points. Over a long game this is a small but real source of score variance you cannot control.

Best score tracking

The board here stores your best score on this device and shows it beside the current score. It persists between sessions and survives closing the tab, since it is kept in your browser's local storage rather than on a server.

Because the score is so tightly linked to the highest tile, your best score is effectively a record of your best tile. Improving it means reaching a new power of two, not squeezing out extra points.

Comparing scores

A score around 20,000 means you reached 2048. Around 45,000 means 4096. Anything above 100,000 means 8192 and a very good run. Scores that fall between these bands usually indicate a board with several large tiles that never merged — which is itself diagnostic of a fragmented board.

Score as feedback

If your scores cluster just below a threshold — say repeatedly ending around 18,000 — that tells you something specific: you are consistently building the components of a 2048 and failing to combine them. The fix is structural, in the bottom row, rather than anything to do with points.

ما يجب تذكّره

  • Only merges score, and the points equal the resulting tile's value.
  • Score is almost entirely determined by your highest tile.
  • There is no scoring optimisation separate from board management.
  • Best score is stored on your device and persists between sessions.
  • Scores clustering below a threshold indicate a fragmentation problem.

أسئلة شائعة

Do I get points for the spawned tiles?

No. Only merges score.

Why do two games with the same highest tile score differently?

Because of the other tiles on the board and how many 4s spawned during the game.
